I clearly didn't read the measurements for this because I was shocked at how small it was when it came! However, it doesn't really need to be bigger. I use it to cut sticks of fruit and vegetables for my almost one year old and it is nice and sharp and sturdy. I hope it will last long enough for my baby to use as a toddler to help me in the kitchen!
This item is amazing for kids!! my 6 and 4 year old are always participating with my cooking. This helps them really get into the prep work. Anything that isn't hard like a carrot can be chopped up with this slicer. Highly recommend for all mamas with inquisitive kids out there!
Gives my son (3 yr old) confidence when he can cut his own strawberries with ease and help chop the veggies for dinner. This magical crinkle cutter has resulted in less tantrums while I’m cooking dinner. My sanity thanks you!
This one is built very sturdily (is that even a word? well it's sturdy). Toddler uses it almost daily to chop his berries and really any food we let him prep himself. "I chop it mama! I do it mama!" is the only thing you need to know about this thing. 10/10
My toddler uses this to practice slicing things. Good for little hands. Recommended in Montessori groups. Also good for baby led weaning in the earlier stages, as it gives baby more of a grip and makes food less slippery.
I purchased this chopper for my 14-month old daughter to introduce cutting and chopping in the kitchen. My goal is to use it daily in a Montessori-inspired environment. I have not let her use the chopper on her own yet but demonstrated how to properly chop a banana with it according to the Montessori method. It is a good size for small hands, very sturdy, and easy to clean. It cut the banana into cute little wavy circles. It is nice that the blade is thick and not very sharp. Once she is old enough to use the chopper on her own, I will not be worried about her cutting herself (of course, I will always supervise!). You cannot select your handle color - we received a chopper with a red handle and are very satisfied with our purchase.
This is a great tool. I use it for potatoes and cucumbers and it’s easy too use. I bought one for my mom, my daughter, my sister-in-law and everyone is a huge fan.
We have been using this for Baby Led Weaning with our infant. We chop slippery fruits and vegetables with it so it’s easier for her to grip. We love it! I have been able to chop raw sweet potato with it. We have only had it a few weeks, so I’m not sure how sharp it will be after more use, but I’m happy with it now.
Love this simple tool. Makes carrots and zuccini (and other produce, but I haven't tried others) look so lovely and appetizing with such little effort. Note: After washing, water can get trapped under the handle so thoroughly rinse and shake it out then air dry overnight.
This will work for me since my hands are smaller to medium sized for a woman. My husbands large hands would make this too clumsy for him. We do have the large one we ordered here from Pampered chef and it works great. This is just a small version. Great for cutting cheese and and chopping veggies. Haven't tried french fries yet, but I think this will work great.
All looks good. I was searching for several of these to supply my child's classroom as the kids chop at least one fruit or vegetable each day. Also bought two for at home, child & parent time during dinner prep.
I use this crinkle cutter for baby led weaning. Started giving my baby finger sized foods at 6 months old, and this made foods like avocado, banana, sweet potato, zucchini much easier to grip. Now that she has her pincer grip I still use to make the finger sized strips, but then further cut the strips into approximately centimeter square chunks. Eventually I plan on letting her use this (with supervision) to prep her own fruits and veggies as a Montessori meal time activity as a safe alternative to using a knife. It's sharp enough to cut through carrots & other hard veggies but not sharp enough to cut through skin.
I love teaching my niece how to cook, so any way I can introduce her to new skills is great. I did some research about toddler safe knives, which sounds super sketchy, but found this handy product. I let my 2 year old niece use this to cut apples, bananas or other "semi soft" fruits and veggies, and she is thrilled. Hold with the handle and apply slight pressure, and it is super easy to clean up, I see us using this much more in the future.
We used this knife for my 3 year old's outdoor preschool so the kids could help in the preparation of soup. 2 and 3 year olds were able to successfully and safely chop up cabbage, broccoli, onions and potatoes with this knife. They really enjoyed being immersed in the cooking experience and we had so much fun watching them. I immediately bought one for my budding chef and we have really enjoyed prepping food together. She loves that she can do it "my by myself" :-]
These are perfect for little hands to help out in the kitchen. Great for the Montassori household or any parent who want to let their children help in the kitchen. You'd be surprised what the little ones do if you just show them how: I let my little one chop vegetables, fruit, sandwiches, etc. and she's just turned 2.5. She peels hard boiled eggs, chops lettuce for tacos, measure and pour, mixes, etc. She loves to cook and help in the kitchen and this let's her be a part of the process.
It seems to be made well and I believe it will last awhile... and the price was right ! I Love it !
I have been researching the Montessori method to use with my strong-willed three year old. She is my fourth and learns in a different, more hands-on way than my other children. She has always enjoyed helping me in the kitchen, so I thought this would be a perfect starting point. It is easy to wash clean, as well! We have used the Joie chopper for cheese, apples, hotdogs, cucumbers, hard-boiled eggs, etc! It is so simple to use, all my others enjoy using it as well. I have heard, also, that the crinkle-cut really works great for child-led weaning -- my baby is not quite ready for finger-foods, but this will be a useful tool when he is!
In trying to create a kid-friendly Montessori style kitchen-environment for my tot, I bought this based on the "How We Montessori" suggestion. I love it and feel good about my two year old using it. She can hold it easily and finds joy in truly being able to chop things herself. Although she has not got precision down, it allows her to comfortably hold and use without fear of nipping her fingers (within reason...still takes some guidance).
I bought this product for my 4 year old because she likes to help me prep for dinner. It was recommended by someone. I love it because it’s safe and I don’t have to worry about cutting any fingers. It was sharp enough to cut peppers, apples (All we have tried so far). I definitely recommend for anyone with a little one who’s interested in helping with cooking.
My son started using this when he was about 17 months old and he learned right away to keep one hand back when using it. He loves helping out in the kitchen and helping to prepare his own good. He has used it to cut watermelon, bananas, cooked carrots, and a few other things. Perfect size for his little hands!!
Watch out, these are sharp! Which is what you’d expect but I’m here to report these aren’t dull which are more dangerous than a sharp knife. Great for cutting fruit and veggies and such into small, fun, grippable portions for our 5 month old baby. We also use it for adult items too like cutting sweet potatoes into fries. Great item!
We purchased this little chopped knife for our toddler to use in the kitchen (with supervision of course!) It is sharp but not so sharp that she would easily cut herself. Our almost two year old can use this (with assistance) to cut up her own strawberries and fruits. She loves it and feels like she is helping.
