I'll be using this to sign stained glass and other items I make and hope to sell. I had tried an engraver that had a cord, and I've also tried using my Dremel with and without the flexible extension attachment, and I *much* prefer this one.
Of course, as with any diamond-tipped bit, using a coolant liquid or even water on the surface of the item being engraved, plus pausing very frequently to reduce heat build-up, will make the bit last much longer and put less stress on the motor, which will make both work better and last longer.
Well, it's now the end of August, so I've been using this nifty little widget for quite some time. I'm currently using it with a diamond ball-shaped bit to drill screw-holes in some stainless steel project-parts. Yes, it takes a while because hey, it runs on two AAA batteries, and doesn't have the power of an industrial angle grinder, LOL! *HOWEVER*, what I like a lot is that, since it *is* small, I can actually *control* it, and use it on small parts. - So, I still like it!
Quick and easy. It took a few seconds to open and install the 2 AAA batteries. You can see from my picture (aside from my poor handwriting) that they scratch well. This is exactly what I want to put my initials into new tools. It only takes a little of the metal/paint off to write a symbol. I'm sure I could keep working and digging for something deeper, but that's unnecessary. I wear a size Lg glove and it fits my hand very well. Index on the button for control and constant pressure.
I love this engraver I’ve had it for over a year it is so fun to use I love engraving and this is perfect for it it runs on two AAA batteries and it lasts a while depending on what kind of batteries you use. I bring it practically everywhere with me just in case I want to engrave something I find. It’s a great tool
I bought this on a whim to carve some runes into tiny, rounded bones (coyote toe bones) and I was very skeptical of how well this would work. Boy was I surprised! This very easy to use drill made quick work of the task and left me feeling like a professional in minutes. My only complaint is that the speed isn’t variable. That said, the battery life is impressive for running on two AAAs (included) and the button is extremely responsive to light pressure (meaning you aren’t pressing down until your finger is red and white). I have three Dremels and I’ll be purchasing another one of THESE and some specialized bits for it, before I buy any more Dremel accessories.
It is a very easy to use and easy to hold product. it did everything I needed to to do as far as quickly engraving a specific set of serial numbers on objects. It is a great value for the money that I spent on it. And would recommend it to anybody that needs it for the engraving needs.
I honestly bought this, because I accidently ordered the wrong size bits for my dremel. And im glad I did! Easy to hold/control. Although there's no RPM adjustment, it spins at just the right speed to engrave, but doesn't want to "take off" while making curves.
Such a great little tool! It's very light, the batteries seem to go a long way but I do wish the chuck was a bit larger to fit other standard size dremal bits but it still works fine for my purpose which is to carve plaster dry metal clay. I'm on my second because my first stopped working after 6 months but it's so economical and handy it was worth buying a second.
I am a school principal. I bought this to engrave my student's computers and their chargers to keep them from getting mixed up. There is no learning curve. You can use it right out of the box as easily as writing with a pen. It is cordless which helps with maneuverability.
I used it to engrave crypto steel. It worked like a charm.
My sons 7, 11 year old, and I all engraved some pretty cool things right out of the box! I trained my boys how to safely use this (i.e. safety glasses, non-disruptive environment etc. etc.), and they picked it up easily. -we tried plastic, glass, and hard metals. Great results and ease of use on all.
General Tools gave great service when the first product I received was defective. They immediately sent out a replacement which worked right of the box. I was going to give a lower rating but Great Customer Service goes a long way with me. Thanks for your service and I will be shopping more often with General Tools.
I use this to engrave my initials on my tools. Sure it's not as fast as a plug-in engraver. But what good is an engraver doing you if you never use it? I never feel like getting out the plug in engraver, unwrapping the cord, and then you have it out so you might as well engrave a bunch of thiings, right? No - this thing is as easy to use as a marker. It goes in a drawer with you pens, and doesn't take up much space. You'll love engraving because it takes no time at all doing it.
I engrave all my tools and other long term belongings I have with this. Took me around 5 minutes to practice on the different types of surfaces (Metal, Plastic, Wood). They all have a different feel to them (generally, plastic was the hardest to practice for me) but once you get it, then it's smooth sailing. Very handy and comfortable. Not a hassle to use, just like a pen.
For big jobs, I have a corded Dremel, but if I just want to quickly put my initials on something, this is very convenient. It is well made, and altho not very strong, I did manage to bore a small hole in thin glass without much effort. It uses a standard 1/8 inch bit, which is well secured by a large set screw.
Inexpensive to buy and TBH I didn't really think this was going to work that well. But it does the job. I have a couple different electric engravers, but they are bulky in shape and I think this pen shape is easier to control. Nice without a cord getting in the way. I wish it had a constant on switch.
I used the hell out of this engraving all my tools, everything! Looks cheap, but it really works great, from very small items to large, it outperforms its price 10 to 1.
My husband bought this for a shop project. It does what he needs it to do and is happy with his purchase.
So easily Convenient to keep on your leg pocket, backpack, briefcase, in your car, as well as in your kitchen junk drawer for labeling your tools, and/or toys.
ive been using it for a resin project. Does have a bit of a learning curve, would recommend trying on scrap piece first. Of course wear a mask because the last thing you need is plastic in your lungs.
This is perfect! I want to engrave in all of my medals from my races and this does the job! Simple to hold, easy to use!
Excellent. Does it’s job and has left lots of permanent marks on tools that I anticipate all on a little bit longer
Absolutely love this tool. Very handy and useful. Amazing value.
Perfect for permanent markings on metal when they don't need to be precise.
