Was not clear what suction question was about, so did not rate it that question. We immediately sharpened our Kyocera knives and it worked great, very noticeable sharper. We also tried on Cutco non-serrated knives and that also was sharper. The price was very good too. I have been wanting one, but did not want to pay the steep price Kyocera was charging. I would definitely recommend this product.
This sharpener is great for ceramic knives and regular knives as well. My large ceramic knife got a large chip in the blade, thought I was going to have to live with it. This sharpener has cleaned it up using the course and fine wheels! I eat a lot of tomatoes and my sharpness test is if the knife can slice a tomato smoothly. All my knives can after being sharpened with this sharpener. I even gave one to my granddaughter for a wedding present. Now not only are my Granddaughters knives sharp but my grandson in law sharpens my daughter's as well.
Easy to use and knife will get very sharp.
Got this to repair my KitchenAide ceramic knife. It had a 1.5mm chip in it. Although it took a while, But I was able to sharpen past the chip at the cost of wearing out the sharpening cartridge. So beware. Before that I sharpened 2 other knives and it worked fine although each knife took a while to get the right angle. Ordered new sharpening cartridge and confident I will be satisfied with my results.
I read a lot of reviews for several sharpeners and took the chance on this one instead of spending well over $100. It took about 30 passes for my ceramic knife to get past all the missing chips (that were about 1mm deep) but it sharpened ceramic to a brand new edge. This will sharpen Cusinart knives wholly, where the Farberware knives have a large fingerguard preventing about 3/8 inch of the heel from getting sharpened. Steel knives took very few passes and sharpened everything from my Chicago Cutlery to cheap drawer knives. The guides may be too narrow for some knives such as hunting knives.
I have three of these but this one seems to really sharpen my knives.
I have several ceramic knives and it took a while to get the wife not to use them as she had the steel knives, like cutting bones. I bought another sharpener but it would not sharpen any knives that had a full handle down to the blade so you missed about 4 inches of the blade. This one allowes you to get within about 1 inch of the handle. If you take it slow as not to over heat the wheel and blade the course wheel will take out a chip about 3mm deep. the fine side will get it sharp enough to shave with but it is not polished smooth. It will still have tiny grooves in the ceramic from the diamond chips. So it will not be as sharp as a new blade. But it will be very sharp.
