Edge Grip Feature Gives More Flexibility when Sharpening
The Edge Grip is designed with a unique feature called ‘edge grip.’ What does this mean? Well the bottom of the sharpener has been designed to allow the sharpener to rest on the edge the counter top or table. Why is this helpful? Sometimes when you sharpen a large chef’s knife with a smaller sharpener, you might drag the tip of the knife across the counter top. This can damage the knife or worse the countertop. So sharpening on the edge with the edge grip allows the knife to pull through the slots from heel to tip. Of course you can still use the Edge Grip on top of the surface but isn’t it nice to have flexibility when sharpening if you need it? The bottom is made of a non-slip material that allows for safe and sturdy sharpening.

My ceramic knives had an odd handle that prevents them from being used in many of the reputable sharpeners out there but I finally found this one that it's pretty much universal. The design allows for virtually any knife to be sharpened from base to tip. I am very happy with my purchase.
Got this to repair my KitchenAide ceramic knife. It had a 1.5mm chip in it. Although it took a while, But I was able to sharpen past the chip at the cost of wearing out the sharpening cartridge. So beware. Before that I sharpened 2 other knives and it worked fine although each knife took a while to get the right angle. Ordered new sharpening cartridge and confident I will be satisfied with my results.
Great little sharpener for the price. Nice size and very quiet in operation. Overall a good value, fast shipping and as described. Very satisfied
I read a lot of reviews for several sharpeners and took the chance on this one instead of spending well over $100. It took about 30 passes for my ceramic knife to get past all the missing chips (that were about 1mm deep) but it sharpened ceramic to a brand new edge. This will sharpen Cusinart knives wholly, where the Farberware knives have a large fingerguard preventing about 3/8 inch of the heel from getting sharpened. Steel knives took very few passes and sharpened everything from my Chicago Cutlery to cheap drawer knives. The guides may be too narrow for some knives such as hunting knives.
Wow - I had a huge divet in a large expensive Kyocera ceramic knife after stupidly trying to use it to cut through a chicken bone (don’t use a ceramic knife for meats! They are best for vegetables!!), and after honing the knife on this ceramic block (admittedly for 3+ hours - it was a really big chip off the blade) the knife now looks like nothing happened and it is SHARP!!!
This was the easiest sharpener to use and get a great result with. I like that the sharpening wheels are in a cartridge that can be easily cleaned or replaced. I used this on a ceramic knife that had gotten damaged (chipped) after years of use and it put a razor sharp edge back on the blade and removed all the chips. EASILY! This is actually the second I've purchased, this one is for my son.
The other reviewers were right: this sharpener really sharpens ceramic knives as they should... like how they came from factory, maybe better. Powering the motor that push the sharpening stones is the key... I have the other brand (Kyocera) which is battery operated, and I have to admit that's why it is not as good as this one.
The first thing I did is resharpened all the knives in the kitchen. And was very happy with the result. Do use a piece of paper to test your knife before and after, it should slice through it with no problem. Also, after the use, turn the machine upside down and tap it lightly on the table. You will see the fine metal residue - that was a visual proof to me, besides the paper test, that this device worked as designed.
We are very happy with the product. Thank you for your service !
Excellent. So easy to use. I bought my ceramic knives about 10 years ago. Of course they got dull. I wasn't comfortable shipping them to the factory to be re-sharpened, so they sat in a drawer for 10 years. Now, they are good as new. I forgot how light they are compared to other knives. I have arthritis in my hands and this sharpener makes my love of cooking so much easier. I love it!
I have bought about five or six now. Mine worked so well I bought the others for gifts. It sharpens ceramic quite so good I can slice a tomato so thin you can read through it.
I purchased this sharpener for a set of ceramic knives I had bought from Amazon. One of them had developed a chip in the blade and I chose this one based on user reviews. I wasn't disappointed. It took several passes through the coarse and then fine sharpeners, but my blade came out nice and even again. This sharpener did the job nicely, is small, light, easy to store, is very quiet and is much, much less expensive than pricier sharpeners that are on the market today. The sharpening part can be easily removed for replacement.
I bought this to sharpen my ceramic knife and it did the job well. It is hard to sharpen ceramic knives in general but this made it a lot easier. I also use it on my steel knives and get the same great results. I have tried and failed with other sharpeners but this one is pretty much dummy proof. The guides line the knife up correctly and when you are done you have a much sharper and safer knife to use.
I ordered this to sharpen my parents' dangerously dull kitchen knives. It worked great. I've used it on my knives and brought them back to like new condition. This works better keeping an edge than creating one, but it will restore a dull knife if you're patient. The cylinder lasts for many, many sharpenings and comes in and out without too much difficulty. This is definitely a nice tool to have for my kitchen and I'm glad I bought it.
Your sharpener did what it was advertised as being able to do. I've had ceramic knives for several years and they just weren't the first knife I would grab when I wanted to slice a tomato because they had lost their edge. I was looking for some way to sharpen these knives when I went to Google. Your sharpened was one of 2 that popped up. The ratings on your sharpener were what made my decision for me. It works! Thank you.
Works great. Youll need to run the knife through more than once obviously, but my dad really likes it and uses it all of the time. Has been working great. Recommend
Great sharpener for my ceramic knives. My Kyocera is probably my favorite knife but returning it once a year or so to the company to get it sharpened was wearing thin. I mean it's great that the company offers that service but shipping isn't free & I'm without my knife for 3-4 weeks. This sharpener has solved that problem.
Very simple to use. Sturdy. Two dual side grooves for kitchen knife sharpening modes.
This thing is amazing, I haven't had Mr ceramic knives long enough to need sharpening but this will do ceramic OR steel, I had a cheap steel chef's knife and it was getting dull sO I used this to put an edge on it better than when new.
This is a great sharpener. I purchased for our new Kyocera black ceramic knives, but they did not need sharpening yet. I did use it to sharpen our Wusthof steel classic knives...had problems getting them sharp, even with their manual sharpener. This Shenzhen device did it ! I,m pleased ...will order their replacement wheels when needed.
Was not clear what suction question was about, so did not rate it that question. We immediately sharpened our Kyocera knives and it worked great, very noticeable sharper. We also tried on Cutco non-serrated knives and that also was sharper. The price was very good too. I have been wanting one, but did not want to pay the steep price Kyocera was charging. I would definitely recommend this product.
This sharpener is great for ceramic knives and regular knives as well. My large ceramic knife got a large chip in the blade, thought I was going to have to live with it. This sharpener has cleaned it up using the course and fine wheels! I eat a lot of tomatoes and my sharpness test is if the knife can slice a tomato smoothly. All my knives can after being sharpened with this sharpener. I even gave one to my granddaughter for a wedding present. Now not only are my Granddaughters knives sharp but my grandson in law sharpens my daughter's as well.
I chose this ceramic knife sharpener due to the features it has. It runs on house power and not batteries, and the diamond grinding wheels are enclosed in a cartridge which is replaceable if ever needed. One of my ceramic knives had some nicks in it. A few strokes through the coarse wheel removed them, then a couple strokes through the fine finishing wheel took it back to original factory sharpness. I plan to use this exclusively with my ceramic knives as i have another sharpener for my steel knives. I am very impressed with this tool.
This knife sharpener is used to sharpen ceramic knives. It works well. There is a coarse wheel and a fine wheel, are which are labeled. An earlier comment said they were not labeled. Instructions are minimal and printed on a small paper with very small print so hard to read. This type of sharper should be used carefully with the blade pupped steadily across the stone with very gentle pressure. Overall a good product and good value!
I have a Farberware ceramic kitchen knife that with use had several nicks in the blade. This sharpener took the nicks out and resharpened the blade in 6 minutes the knife was as good as the day it was bought. Hint: when using a ceramic blade the best way to avoid kicks is with only back and forth cutting strokes, a up and down cutting stroke will cause impacts on the cutting board that does cause the nicks in the blade
